The aim of this course is to equip students from the IPA community with the basic English language required to navigate early integration tasks.
Please note: this course currently requires you to attend Doras offices in Limerick twice per week for 90 minutes in addition to online home learning.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will learn:
- Verbs in present tense
- Receive a weekly vocabulary bank
- How to fill in basic forms
- How to interact in the shop
- How to make an appointment
- How to describe basic health issues
- How to describe living spaces
- How to read common signs
Course Structure:
The course is 8 weeks long with two 90 minute classes per week, and self-directed sessions of learning per week in an online module.
Course Requirements:
- Students should attend 13 out of 16 classes to receive a certificate, unless presenting a valid reason (discretion of the teacher and coordinator).
- Students should have access to a mobile phone or laptop.
- Ideally, students have a basic grasp of the Latin alphabet and English sounds.
