SaorEd FAQ - SaorEd

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SaorEd?

SaorEd is a free online education platform for people from migrant and refugee backgrounds in Ireland. Courses include English, information technology (IT) and career preparation. Courses are available in English, Arabic, Spanish, and German.

Who can use SaorEd?

SaorEd is for refugees, international protection applicants and migrants over the age of 18 residing in Ireland who want to access free education. International protection applicants will have access to more courses than other people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

Do you have a course catalogue?

Yes! You can download our catalogue here.

Can SaorEd help me get a job?

Courses on SaorEd offer lots of support to students, for example, English courses and job preparation. You can also take online courses to learn new skills for a job and put on your CV. However, we don’t offer career counseling, job or internship placement services. Courses are not currently accredited, but we hope to expand the available courses in the future.

Who has to upload documents?

International protection applicants are encouraged to upload their document in order to gain access to further resources.

You should upload:
Temporary Residence Certificate (TRC)
A document that shows your date of birth – this document does not have to be from Ireland.

Your document should have:
A mention of your status as refugee/asylum seeker/internally displaced person
Your full name
Your date of birth

Please note, the document showing your date of birth can be from any country as long as it proves you are over 18 years old.
You can upload multiple documents if necessary to show all of the relevant information.
